Lima Symphony to brings Spanish-inspired music to local libraries in June

Lima, OH (May 24, 2023) - The Lima Symphony Orchestra brings its popular “Symphony Storytime” to Kalida, Van Wert, and Findlay this June. Throughout the season, the Lima Symphony brings Symphony Storytime programs to Allen and all surrounding counties, extending the Symphony’s educational reach and impact. The program, “Orchestra, Olé!” celebrates Spanish-inspired music and stories.

For this innovative program, children and their families will enjoy classic and outstanding new children’s literature, including The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf, Maria the Matador by Ann Lambelet, and The Little Matador by Julian Hector. The stories are interwoven with classic works by Spanish composer José Padilla, Uruguayan composer Gerardo Matos Rodríguez, and selections from Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” as performed by the Lima Symphony Orchestra string quartet. The program will introduce children to musical features of Spanish-inspired music, including distinctive rhythms and dances. With a focus on creative movement and music literacy, "Symphony Storytime" is designed to spark children’s imaginations and foster a lifelong love of and appreciation for music. This program is appropriate for all ages and is free and open to the public.
